Extracted from Description: “As part of UCD's After Empire programme of events, former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki gave a unique insight into his country's experiences since independence. The interviews were conducted by Dr Conor Mulvagh (UCD School of History) in University College Dublin's historic Belfield House in February 2016. Despite taking different paths towards independence, and doing so in different eras and circumstances, Ireland, South Africa, Tanzania and India share much common history which has shaped their place in the modern world.
